We're thrilled to announce that Jesse Cheng has joined Hello Patient as an AI Deployment Engineer. Jesse brings a unique combination of technical expertise and healthcare AI experience that makes him perfectly positioned to help medical practices harness the power of conversational AI.
From Cornell to healthcare AI
Jesse recently graduated from Cornell University with a degree in computer science. During his time at Cornell, he was a Kessler Fellow and actively involved in the Design & Tech Initiative, where he served as both PM and Software Developer. In that role, he led the internal launch of CornellGO, a scavenger hunt app for Cornell students, managing new product features and conducting user interviews.
But what sets Jesse apart isn't just his technical training—it's his practical experience at the intersection of healthcare and artificial intelligence.
Healthcare AI experience
Most recently, Jesse worked as a Data & AI Intern at Gaia, an IVF insurance startup in London. There, he developed a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline to extract insights from customer calls and emails. This hands-on experience gave him deep insight into the complexities of healthcare conversations and the technical challenges of processing real patient interactions—experience that translates directly to his work at Hello Patient.
Jesse has also demonstrated his versatility through product management internships at Jane.com, an e-commerce platform for small women-owned businesses, where he scoped a new feature for dynamic trending search terms using Algolia. He's participated in multiple projects that showcase his ability to bridge technical implementation with user needs.
Making healthcare more accessible
At Hello Patient, Jesse will focus on what we do best: helping medical practices go live with AI agents that reliably answer patient calls. His role centers on deployment—the critical bridge between promising AI technology and real-world healthcare applications that work seamlessly for both practices and their patients.
Jesse will be working directly with practices across specialties including dental, dermatology, ENT, orthopedics, urgent care, and veterinary medicine to ensure Mia, our AI assistant, integrates smoothly into their workflows and delivers consistent, high-quality patient experiences.
Why this matters
The front door of healthcare—that first phone call, text, or chat—is often the most frustrating part of the patient experience. Long hold times, missed appointments, and unanswered questions create barriers to care. Jesse's work will help eliminate these friction points, making healthcare more accessible and efficient for everyone.
His background analyzing real healthcare conversations at Gaia means he understands the nuances that matter: the questions patients actually ask, the edge cases that need careful handling, and the reliability standards that healthcare demands.
Welcome aboard
We couldn't be more excited to have Jesse on the team. His combination of technical skills, healthcare AI experience, and product thinking is exactly what we need as we scale our impact across medical practices nationwide.
Welcome to Hello Patient, Jesse! 🤖
